Location

Sauna Hetta is resident at Hemscott Hill in Northumberland. between April and September. We are located over the road from The Barn on The Bay, a coastal weddings, pop up cafe and events space.

Our location is perfect for sauna as we have private access onto the beach at Druridge Bay. Hetta is nestled privately in the dunes with a gate directly onto the beach. The beauty of Sauna Hetta is that the space is yours to enjoy without distraction.

Our facilities are simple and preserve the natrual beauty of the location, the sauna has cold buckets for dunking and there is toilet access over at the farm.

Sauna Hetta

There’s nothing quite like the smell of sauna wood with a lingering aroma of essential oils. Our name comes from the Swedish word for heat, or warmth, but that’s only half of the story.

Hot and cold therapy has been around for years but is recently becoming very mainstream. Add the benefits of cold water plunges into the equation and reap the benefits.

When you arrive, you’ll be shown around and briefed by one of our sauna guides. We recommend alternating your time between cold plunges and the heat of the sauna, but of course, it’s up to you how you use your time here. You are more than welcome to arrive early and park up to go to the sea before your session.

Hetta comfortably seats 6 people but you can have up to 8 in a private session and we offer both private hire sessions for you and your friends, of join in a communal session, we have some lovely regulars.

Sessions last for 45 minutes in the sauna and you’ll have 15 minutes afterwards to get changed. To make sure that you’re getting the most out of our sessions we recommend that you have your swimwear on under your clothes when you arrive so that you can start your experience promptly.

 FAQs

  • Each sauna session lasts for 45 minutes with time to get changed before and after, providing ample time for relaxation and rejuvenation. We also run 2 and 3 hour sessions by arrangement.

  • We recommend regular swimwear for wearing in the sauna and flip flops or crocs for outside. You’ll need to bring a towel for wrapping up in and a towel to sit on in the sauna. Removeable jewellery such as pendant necklaces should not be worn in the sauna and you should be careful with metallic objects on swimwear.

  • At our winter location there is access to the loos at The Barn on The Bay. As they are used by cafe visitors you must wear a cover up (towelling robe or similar) and shoes when using them and we ask you to dry off before going in to prevent slipping hazards.

There are 2 shower rooms available for after your sauna.
